Covid-19: What to expect from our office today? 

There is a pandemic happening – that’s why we are taking extra precautions to protect everyone in the office and our patients. Your appointment will be a little different than what you’re used to. 

Is it safe to visit our office now? 

Yes. We follow all updated safety guidelines finalized by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) added to the very strict infection prevention and control policies. We strictly adhere to those requirements because our priority is to protect our patients, visitors, and staff.

What will be different?

Here are some of the changes you can expect at your dentist’s office:

  • Appointments are spaced out to allow physical distancing between patients and time for disinfection between each appointment. 
  • The day before your appointment we will ask you questions to check if you have any COVID-19 symptoms and when you arrive, you will be given a similar paper questionnaire to answer. 
  • You will be asked to wear a mask or face covering while in the office except when you are being treated.
  • Our dental staff will be wearing more protective gear than normal. This includes masks, face shields, and gowns. 
  • You may be asked to limit the number of people you bring to the appointment with you. There are exceptions for small children and people who require assistance. If a parent or caregiver is allowed, they will also be subject to all screening measures.
  • You may be asked to call when you arrive or wait outside of the office. You must then wait for a call back to let you know when you can enter.
  • In the waiting room, there will be no magazines, toys, or any other non-essential items as these are all difficult to disinfect.
  • Patients must wash their hands with hand sanitizer approved by Health Canada or with soap and water, when they enter and leave the dentist’s office.
  • Plan to pay by touchless payment, such as credit or debit card.

How do I know if I have COVID-19?

The Ministry of Health has an online self-assessment tool to help you determine if you need to seek care.

If you are having difficulty breathing or experiencing other severe symptoms, call 911 immediately. Advise them of your symptoms and travel history.
